Large targets like Aegis Ashore and naval vessels don't care because they have massive gun damage resistance. Light vehicle targets pit you against razor-thin hitboxes and shit flight precision. What do AC7's guns offer besides self-imposed challenge and tunnel vision? The Project Wingman guns mattered because they're ridiculously powerful whether combined with missiles or on their own. The PS2 trilogy guns mattered because if you weren't following up SPWs and missiles with yaw and guns, you were leaving a load of potential ground kills on the table. It's like they were grandfathered into a game that's actually about getting missile lock while doing 360 noscopes. I honestly couldn't tell you what purpose the guns actually serve in AC7.
